Salary calculator: monthly, hourly and inflation-adjusted pay
Turn annual gross salary into monthly and hourly pay. Compare your next pay rise with inflation to see whether your buying power improves.
A pay rise. Or a pay cut in disguise?
Example amounts. Currency sets the unit; no exchange-rate conversion. One annual raise. Gross pay before taxes and deductions. Hourly figure uses your paid hours and weeks.
Your pay buys more: +USD 583 a year in today’s money.
Keeping pace with 3% inflation means an annual salary of USD 61,800.
How the calculation works
New salary = S × (1 + r); real salary = new salary / (1 + i); real change = ((1 + r) / (1 + i) − 1) × 100%S is current annual gross salary, r the next raise as a decimal, and i inflation over the same year. Monthly pay divides the new salary by 12. Hourly pay divides it by hours per week times paid weeks per year. Break-even salary is S × (1 + i). For zero starting salary the displayed relative change is zero because a percentage change is undefined.
Limitations
Gross pay only: no tax, social contributions, deductions, benefits or overtime rules. The raise and inflation apply once over the same year. Paid weeks include paid leave when it is part of your salary. This hourly equivalent can differ from a contractual hourly rate.
Questions, answered.
Is this a take-home-pay calculator?
No. Net pay requires the tax and contribution rules of your country and circumstances.
Can a raise still mean less buying power?
Yes. If your raise is smaller than inflation over the same period, real pay decreases.
Which weeks should I enter?
Use weeks covered by annual salary, including paid leave where applicable. 52 is a common illustration for a full-year salaried employee.
