What will the same life cost?
Example amounts. Currency sets the unit; no exchange-rate conversion. Constant inflation, chosen by you. No interest earned on cash. An illustration, not an inflation forecast.
instead of USD 2,500 today · USD 860 more every month
How the calculation works
Future monthly spending = M × (1 + i)^y; future annual spending = 12 × future monthly spendingM is today’s monthly spending, i your annual inflation assumption as a decimal, and y whole years. The model holds the basket and quantities constant. It shows the nominal spending needed to buy the same basket later, alongside the buying power of unchanged cash.
Limitations
This does not model changes in lifestyle, household size, income, your spending mix or exchange rates. Inflation is a constant scenario assumption, not a forecast. Annual spending is 12 times the monthly figure at the selected year.
Questions, answered.
Does this predict my actual future expenses?
No. Your spending mix and individual prices may change differently. This is a constant-rate scenario.
Does currency selection convert my money?
No. It changes the unit shown beside your amounts. Enter all amounts in the same currency; no exchange-rate conversion is performed.
What if inflation is zero?
The same basket costs the same amount in every year under this model.
